Looking for a Vagaro alternative?

Most people arriving here aren’t leaving because the subscription is expensive — it isn’t. They’re leaving because the subscription stopped being the bill. Tersavia’s booking platform is free forever when you process payments through Tersavia, with forms, storage, and reminders included rather than metered.

What people actually leave Vagaro over

Nobody can tell you what Vagaro costs — including the pricing guides

Search for Vagaro’s price and you will find $23.99, $24, $25, $30, $83.99, and $90 quoted as the base, depending on which guide you read. G2 lists plans starting at $23.99 and reaching $83.99. Capterra and Software Finder both say $30. One aggregator says $25 with $10 per additional user. The $23.99 figure appears as a limited-time promotional rate rather than list.

The in-product ladder is simpler than any of them: $30 for one bookable calendar, $10 for each calendar from the second through the seventh, capping at $90 — and calendars beyond the eighth are free. That structure is describable in one sentence, and almost nothing published about Vagaro describes it.

This is the clearest example on the internet of why the number on a pricing page is not the number you pay.

The add-ons are where the invoice actually grows

Forms are listed at $10 a month. Vagaro Drive, for file and photo storage, from $10. Online Shopping Cart, $10. MySite, the website builder, $20. Text and email marketing are sold in credit tiers rather than at a flat rate.

Each one is individually reasonable, and none of them is hidden — they are on the price list. The issue is that a business needing intake forms, client photos, and a way to reach clients is buying four line items on top of a base plan that was chosen because it looked inexpensive.

A credit is not a message

Text and email marketing priced in credits is not priced per message. Cost scales with character count, an emoji counts as two characters, and attaching an image can multiply the cost several times over. That is a carrier reality rather than a vendor invention, but it means a business genuinely cannot forecast its own messaging bill.

Tersavia bills the same underlying units — one segment is 160 characters, or 70 with an emoji, and a photo message counts as three — because carriers do. The difference is a live segment counter while you compose and a receipt afterward reading “2 segments × 400 recipients = 800 messages.” Confirmations and reminders are free and unlimited, sent from your own number so replies reach you.

What’s free here that others charge for

What Vagaro does better

The base subscription is genuinely cheap, and the cap is real. At $90 a month for seven or more calendars — with every calendar past the eighth costing nothing — a large salon pays less for core Vagaro than for a single mid-tier plan almost anywhere else in this category. Platforms that charge per location or per user do not have a ceiling at all.

Vagaro also runs a consumer marketplace without charging a commission on the bookings it produces, which is not true of every marketplace in this industry. If you want directory exposure and a low, predictable base, that combination is a legitimately good deal and we would rather say so than pretend otherwise.

The honest framing is this: Vagaro is not expensive software. It is inexpensive software with a lot of separately priced parts, and whether that is a problem depends entirely on how many of the parts you need.

Switching from Vagaro

Your client records, appointment history, service menu, staff, and product catalog move cleanly. If you have been paying for Vagaro Drive, export those files before you cancel — storage add-ons are the thing people forget, and the data goes when the subscription does.

One Vagaro-specific thing worth checking: whether the dedicated text number your clients have been replying to comes with you. Ask in writing, and ask before you give notice.

Questions from Vagaro users

Is Tersavia cheaper than Vagaro?

The booking platform is free forever when you process payments through Tersavia, so there is no subscription to compare. What matters is the total: Vagaro’s base caps at $90 a month, and the difference shows up in the add-ons — forms, storage, an online store, a website builder, and credit-tier messaging are separate line items there and included here.

Why do different sites quote different Vagaro prices?

Because they are reading different sources at different times, and one widely quoted figure is a promotional rate rather than list. The in-product ladder is $30 for one calendar, $10 for each of calendars two through seven, capping at $90. We would encourage you to check it against your own invoice rather than take anyone’s summary, including ours.

Do I lose my client list if I leave Vagaro?

No. Client records and appointment history export and come across during setup. Files stored in a paid storage add-on are the ones to export deliberately before you cancel, because access typically ends with the subscription.

What about my saved card details?

Cards on file cannot move between platforms — that is a PCI rule rather than a vendor being difficult, and it applies to every migration in this industry including ours. Cards are recaptured at checkout as clients come in, which takes about one booking cycle.

Does Tersavia charge for text and email?

Confirmations, reminders, and booking notifications are free and unlimited, and they send from your own number so a client who replies reaches you. Marketing campaigns are sold in segment packs starting at $9, with 5,000 email sends a month free.

Can I run both platforms while I move?

Yes, and we would recommend it. Set Tersavia up alongside Vagaro, book everything new here, and close the old account once a full booking cycle has passed. There is no contract on our side to unwind if you change your mind.

Sources and caveats

Vagaro figures are drawn from Vagaro’s published pricing and in-product pricing screens, corroborated against third-party pricing coverage where those sources agree. Published guides disagree with each other on Vagaro’s base price; where they conflict we have used the in-product ladder and said so above.

All Vagaro figures are published list prices as of August 12, 2026, not negotiated rates and not drawn from any private account. Vendors change pricing frequently — verify current terms directly with Vagaro before making a decision. Where third-party guides disagree with a vendor’s own pricing, we have said so rather than picking the number that suited us.

Our bias, stated plainly. We sell competing software and we want your business. Every figure above is checkable against Vagaro’s own pricing or your own invoice, and we would rather you check than take our word.
