What people actually leave Booksy over
The bill grows with your chairs, not your revenue
Booksy is $29.99 a month for the first user in the US, plus tax, with each additional staff member at $20 a month. Published plans range from about $29.99 to $79.99 depending on tier.
For a six-chair barbershop that is $129.99 a month before anything else — and the increment arrives the moment you hire, not when the new barber starts producing. Per-seat pricing charges you for capacity rather than for outcome, which is the wrong way round for a business with turnover.
Boost is 30% of a first visit — and worth understanding properly
When Boost is on, Booksy takes roughly 30% of a new Boost-sourced client’s first visit in exchange for priority placement in the marketplace. That is the highest first-visit commission in this comparison.
The honest framing is that this is a client-acquisition cost, not a software fee. The question is not whether 30% is high — it is — but what that same client would cost you through your own channel. If a paid ad, a referral incentive, and a Boost booking all deliver a new client, the right comparison is between those three numbers, not between 30% and zero.
Your listing and your commission are separate decisions
Businesses appear in the Booksy marketplace without Boost — they simply do not get priority placement. Boost is off by default and is switched on deliberately.
We are stating that clearly because a lot of comparison content presents the 30% as a condition of using Booksy. It is not, and pretending otherwise would be the kind of claim that undermines everything else on this page.

What Booksy does better
Boost is genuinely optional and genuinely toggleable, and nothing else in this category gives you that control. An operator can switch it on during a slow January, fill the book, and switch it off in March — paying the acquisition cost precisely when acquisition is what they need and nothing when it is not.
That is a better-designed commission than a mandatory one, and it is the honest answer to why 30% is less alarming than it looks. A commission you can turn off is a marketing spend. A commission you cannot is a tax.
Booksy also includes 2,000 marketing texts a month in the subscription, which is more generous than most of this category, and Boost drives real new-client volume — particularly for barbershops, where it is the closest thing the industry has to a reliable discovery channel.
Switching from Booksy
If you have been running Boost, look at what share of your new clients came through it before you plan a date. That is the number you are replacing, and replacing it takes either your own marketing or one of Tersavia’s paid growth products — not nothing.
The client file itself moves without drama — contacts, visit history, services, staff, and stock. Ask Booksy in writing whether your dedicated text number is released; for a shop whose regulars text to confirm, that number is the item most likely to cause friction on the way out.

Questions from Booksy users
Do I have to use Boost to be on Booksy?
No. Businesses appear in the Booksy marketplace without Boost — Boost buys priority placement and is off by default. The 30% commission applies only to new clients Boost sources, and you can switch it on and off as your calendar demands.
How much does Booksy cost for a team?
$29.99 a month for the first user in the US plus tax, with each additional staff member at $20 a month, and published plans running up to about $79.99 depending on tier. A six-person shop is therefore around $129.99 a month before processing.
Does Tersavia charge per staff member?
No. There is no per-user, per-chair, or per-location charge for the platform, so adding a barber or a stylist does not change what you pay. The booking platform is free forever when you process payments through Tersavia.
What happens to my new-client flow if I leave?
It changes, and we would rather say so. We do not run a marketplace, so we send you no clients. If Boost has been a meaningful share of your new business, plan for how you replace it before you move rather than after.
How does your messaging compare to the 2,000 texts Booksy includes?
Confirmations, reminders, and booking notifications are free and unlimited here, sent from your own number so replies reach you. Marketing campaigns are separate and sold in segment packs starting at $9, with 5,000 email sends a month free. Booksy’s 2,000 included marketing texts are a genuinely good inclusion and we are not going to pretend otherwise.

Sources and caveats
Booksy figures are US published pricing and reported third-party coverage. Boost’s commission rate, its opt-in status, and the 2,000 included marketing texts are all drawn from Booksy’s own materials and operator reports. Pricing differs by market — these figures are US-specific.
All Booksy figures are published list prices as of August 12, 2026, not negotiated rates and not drawn from any private account. Vendors change pricing frequently — verify current terms directly with Booksy before making a decision. Where third-party guides disagree with a vendor’s own pricing, we have said so rather than picking the number that suited us.
Our bias, stated plainly. We sell competing software and we want your business. Every figure above is checkable against Booksy’s own pricing or your own invoice, and we would rather you check than take our word.
